Vivid Dreams on Meds

My doctor recently started me on seroquel. I have had very vivid dreams ever since taking it. I remember my dreams very clearly. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

I don't need meds to make my dreams clearer. Some of my dreams are either very wierd or totally frightening.
Sometimes I find myself talking outloud to the other person, and that wakes me up, so it never finishes.
Or, I am being chased, or killed or doing stupid stupid things.

Whats the meds for?

Re: dreams
Seroquel is an anti-psychotic usually prescribed for bi-polar disorder, but my doc gave 'em to me because I am having bad sleep problems. They haven't really helped me sleep, though, just caused my dreams to be so vivid I remember 'em.

Re: dreams
Wow I wouldn't go that far to take meds. Have you ever tried anything natural like Valerien to help you sleep.
I know what you mean with the vivid dreams. Last year I had a lot of stress in my family life, with my daughter and parents, that this year I had to make a decision .. And leaving them out of my life has begun the healing process.
But the dreams are still here. I just hate the part that I am always being hurt and violently hurt.Or I am running and running so fast that I head into more trouble.
Or there are always idiots out of my past there. seems like they want to haunt me. Like my ex husband. He was a violent mental man. He is always in the distant background causing me more trouble and scaring me to death. That is usually the parts where I either scream, or cry and wake myself up.
I really wish I could figure it all out.

Re: dreams
I've exhausted most of the natural remedies. I sleep about four hours then wake no matter what I take. I've been taking "depression" meds for years now and none of them have helped me sleep. I'm genuinely exhausted from almost never having more than four hours of sleep at a time. I can sometimes nap or sleep in shifts so that I can get eight hours sleep in a day, but never more than four hours at a time. I've tried everything I can think of and I think my docs are getting to that point.

Re: dreams
I'll turn 50 this may. I "retired" three years ago when I lost my vision.

Re: dreams
You might look at the LJ community Baddreams. Several people record their dreams there and some can interpret...

Re: dreams
I have...
Last night I had a dream about my dad. I haven't spoken to him in over a year due to something my daughter did while she lived there while going to college.
My last words to him that time were go to hell you were never a good father.
He was, he was the best. Now I just found out he is very very sick. So now I find myself talking to him but in strange places. It's like he isn't my dad. And then there are old time movie stars trying to help me out. My dad is dressed in a yellow outfit. I have no idea.
I keeps saying I'm sorry dad, I love you, but it's like he doesn't hear me.
I keep reaching and reaching but never meet my destination.

And how have your past few nights been?

holy shit, i think that i may be starting to get addicted to seroquel.

Everytime i take it, my dreams are so real and i dont realize it was a dream till i wake up. In my dreams, i always feel like its real and i have a sense of touch and everything. I love it, it makes me feel like in a second world.

Sometimes the dreams are very horrifying but some times beautiful.
Its feels i am high while sleeping and wake up feeling like my body buzzin , its so weird.

I have been on seroquel for a year for sleep. Although it has really heped me sleep through the night, I too, have super vivid dreams. They are often so realistic that I will dream about real life conversations I have had earlier in the day, details about clothing worn or food ate, etc. Often times I wake up and have no idea what was realand what was dreamt.

Re: Dreams
I was on seroquel for a while. It had absolutely no effect on me at all. *sigh*

I was in jail about 8 years ago, I told the doctor there that I was having problems sleeping so they gave me seroquel on a regular basis. While taking it I started having really messed up dreams, abnormal for me. Its now been 8 years since Ive taken seroquel and my dreams are still really messed up, sometimes 4 or 5 different dreams per sleep period.
There hasnt been a night in my life since taking seroquel that I havent had a dream. They arent always weird dreams but they are starting to become more frequent and VERY lucid. I am 100% sure seroquel is to blame. I just want to know if I will ever dream normal again and who is responsible for making my dreaming hell? I am planning on going to seek medical help on this and may even file a lawsuit against the jail that fed me these pills(Maplehurst, Milton, Ontario) This has changed my life drastically, even causing me to think about some of my dreams all day. I am not bipolar or schizophrenic so why the hell would they feed me these pills just to sleep?
